Kendal decided that she wanted her first "girl only" party this year, so she picked a handful of friends and kicked the guys out of the house. The girls tie-dyed shirts (rainbow dyed), and played huge amounts of tether-ball, the latest playground obsession. She had a blast, and it was so much fun to see her with her group of school friends. After her friend party, we had family over for a barbecue, she had a great time.
Oh my, has she grown this year! First grade was over yesterday and she's on to 2nd grade, I can't believe it. According to her yearbook (yes, they have those for elementary school now, a fundraiser for PTO), her favorite subject is science (yes!), and tether-ball is her favorite sport. She's really into the Magic School bus books and obsessively sings Adele songs. Barbies are so over, and she won't wear Hello Kitty any more because her "friends will think I like little kid things." Uugh, the beginnings of peer pressure.
She's still into sports - just wrapping up softball and heading into swimming, soccer and volleyball. Wardrobe choices are made based on what is most appropriate for the monkey bars, meaning that skirts and dresses are out - and apparently pretty hair things went with them.
She is very opinionated and will argue her point endlessly (which dad promises will be a fantastic trait later in life), but is also still into cuddling and could have my scratch her back for hours every night. I love my "bunny," happy birthday!
